The Follicular Unit Extraction -FUE-

Is an almost non-invasive hair transplantation technique in which hair follicles are individually removed from the patient’s donor area and then separately transplanted to the receptor site. The grafts are extracted using a small precision tool and then placed in the receptor site. With this procedure, there are no linear scars, and stitches are not required. The donor area will be minimally detectable within just a few days.

Why Choose FUE with Dr. Preuss?

A FUE procedure in Nova Hair, as with all hair restoration procedures at Nova Hair Transplant, is performed by and under the surveillance of Dr. Stefan Preuss. Dr. Preuss is a highly skilled surgeon in graft placement. In this procedure, the patient keeps his or her original hair growth pattern, which gives them a natural-looking result.

Benefits of FUE

  • No stitches in the donor area, which will be almost unnoticeable within a few days
  • Natural-looking and permanent results
  • Minimally invasive technique
  • Outpatient procedure
  • Fast recovery; almost all patients return to work the next day

How FUE is Performed?

Using a tiny instrument, Doctor Preuss removes individual follicular units from the patient’s scalp (donor site). The device makes a tiny circular incision around the follicular unit to isolate the graft. The graft is then removed directly from the scalp and prepared for placement by Nova Hair Transplant’s technicians. Working with high-powered stereo microscopes, these specially trained technicians isolate, prepare, and make sure that the follicular grafts remain in perfect condition. Follicular units are arranged into groups, depending on the number of hairs contained within each follicle. Then, Dr. Preuss carefully places the hair follicules in the receptor site. His technique makes the most natural-looking results.

Additional Information:
Preparation of the Donor Area

In most cases, the patient’s hair in the donor site cropped short to clear the area. This is done to work with a better view of the patient’s scalp, as well as each donor follicle.

Follicular Unit Placement

Hair follicles contain one, two, three or four hairs each. These units will be strategically placed on the receptor site to create natural-looking results.
Doctor Preuss makes small incisions in the patient’s receptor site (areas of hair loss) and carefully introduces the hair units leaving the patient’s natural hair growth pattern. The follicular grafts are placed individually.

Donor Area Healing

The small incisions where the follicular units are extracted are unnoticeable after a few days. The healing in this area is great, and it will be completely healed within a few days. No stitches are necessary.

Hair Growth

Restored hair will grow in the same fashion as one’s natural hair. Approximately three months after the procedure new hair begins to grow. Around six months, a patient should notice significant regrowth. The patient’s hair (natural and transplanted) will continue to grow naturally.
